ABOUT

Introducing the Japanese American Resource Center of Colorado

HOW WE STARTED:

The Japanese American Resource Center of Colorado (JARCC) was formed in 2009 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization to preserve, celebrate and share the Japanese and Japanese American experience in Colorado.

HOW IT’S GOING:

We strive to meet the needs of a constantly changing and diverse community by preserving and protecting the contributions of our Colorado Issei and Nisei descendants for present and future generations* (Sansei, Yonsei, Gosei, etc.) through cultural programs and events, educational outreach, heritage preservation and collaborative partnerships with local organizations.

HOW WE GOT HERE:

Distinguished and prominent community leaders composed the original founding group. This fluid group met for several years prior to 2009 with a seed vision of propelling events and utilizing resources focused on sharing of cultural happenings within the Japanese and Japanese American neighborhoods of Denver. JARCC hosted many successful events, exhibits, and workshops honoring its founding vision while collaborating with other local organizations to support similar goals and community outreach which are continuing to the present.
